How to use the Engineering Studio
- Start from the sample bay or add a member. Give it a level so the takeoff can roll up a foundation, a frame and a roof.
- Set cover, the mix and the bars. Open Drawing for the section, the bar plan and, on a loaded beam, the shear and moment.
- Open Schedule for the cuts and Order for a stock-length nesting. Rates are optional and have no currency.
Questions
Is this a structural design?
No. It is a quantity takeoff, a drawing of those bars, and an elastic check of the gross uncracked section. Cover, the lap multiple and wastage are the numbers you enter.
How is the stock list packed?
Each cut is placed, longest first, into a bar of the stock length. A cut longer than that stock is counted separately and is not forced into a bar. Wastage is applied to the kilogram order, not a second time to the cutting list.
